The digital age has connected the world like it never has before, and this means more and more bridges need to be built for people from different backgrounds, cultures, and languages to work together peacefully.  Accordingly, bi- and multi-lingual phenoms are an essential part of the global economy--we ensure people speak and understand the same language.  In the legal realm, this is even more true, where clarity and precision are the rudimentary blocks of all effective communication. 

But achieving clarity and precision requires much more than just the ability to communicate in two or more different languages, especially when attempting to understand and convey highly specialized and technical text.  It requires an extensive understanding of the subject matter and the ability to convert this understanding into a different language.  In the area of law, this means understanding the fundamental differences between the civil and common law systems, the legal concepts and principles that are common to both, those that are similar, and those that are foreign to each other.
